Join Yoga Instructor, Meggan Riley, on a journey to the Sacred Valley for a yoga and meditation retreat at a peaceful, healing retreat center in the Andes Mountains of Peru! This retreat is offered during an incredibly sacred time on the Incan calendar year, as June 21, 2018 marks the Winter Solstice & Incan New Year! For locals, it is a time of celebration, renewal, sun worship, earth honor, and connection to ancestral wisdom! Winter Solstice marks the longest day of darkness in a year, thereafter a shift towards increased solar energy.

In gratitude for the sun’s return, we gather for practice with the intention of stepping into our own light. While the sun’s power is increasing, we plug into the global awakening in which a collective of souls is actively working to heal our planet and our species. In this retreat, participants will be asked to reflect inward deeply, to crack themselves wide open and allow for the exquisite interplay between their shadows and light. They will be asked to gather in practice and in ceremony, to do the work and allow for the luminous beings from within to awaken.

Each day we will gather for a mixed level practice, including dharma talk, asana, pranayama, dhyana, mantra, and svasana. Additional sessions for meditation and ceremony will be offered. Students will be asked to create intention in practice, in prayer, in essence, in dharma, and on their life path.

Dharma Talks & Practice Topics will include:

  • Winter Solstice Practice in honor of Inti, Sun God of the Incas
  • Entering Realms of Consciousness in Practice
  • The Divine Feminine & The Divine Masculine
  • Earth & Plant Wisdom
  • Ancestral Wisdom & Apus, Luminous Beings
  • Global Awakening
  • 7 Nights Accommodations
  • 3 Whole Foods Meals Each Day
  • Round-Trip Group Transport to/from the Airport
  • 2-Day Tour of Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu
  • Karma Yoga Service Project
  • Daily Yoga Practices
  • Personal Retreat Time (having time to nap, explore, walk, read, and just be)

The retreat center’s name translates as “love from the ancient forest.” It is nestled in an oasis of native plants and fruit trees, nourished by a magnificent waterfall in the Sacred Valley of Peru. This lovely spot is in the Andes Mountains and home of the twelve mountains known as Apus—“luminous beings.” Those who come to the center have the opportunity to commune directly with these mountains, as well as with the local curanderos and pacos (healers), who engage with us for ritual and Despacho ceremony.

The guests at this center enjoy delicious meals with locally-grown and lovingly-prepared ingredients. Each guest room is a reflection of the Peruvian culture of the Sacred Valley. The entire center embodies kindness, love, and wholeness that seem to permeate the magical place.

A Note from Meggan

“As I step into greater self -awareness, I step closer to union with The Absolute. Through this yogic journey, I have become content with the fluctuations of being. I understand that the state of ‘being happy’ is not a life devoid of problems. Happiness comes through the acceptance of every experience. Happiness comes through union with The Absolute. With this union, there is inevitably an understanding that the individual self and the universe are one. That oneness is The Absolute. Piece by piece, yoga has given me glimpses into this divine reality, and as a teacher I am blessed to be able to share the messages that unfold through my personal journey and practice. Through teaching, I want to humbly share the insight I have discovered so that together, we can participate in a co-creative process of uplifting the human soul, the collective consciousness, and ultimately experience Samadhi. Through teaching, it is my intention to inspire your creative expression of the divine. For me, yoga and mindfulness have been that expression.” – Meggan Riley

“Walking into a yoga practice with Meggan as your instructor is a true gift! Her energy and smile lights up the room. Her passion flows through you, no matter if it’s your first time on the mat or if you have been practicing for years. She makes each movement seem to flow with ease. Giving beginners modifications is also such a nice thing to see. She truly is one of a kind & the most caring yoga teacher I have had. Namaste” ~Kari E.

“Meggan is an incredible teacher, with so much passion for sharing yoga and connecting with her students. She is warm and funny, making every class an energizing fun experience. Alignment and correct form are key principles in Meggan’s classes- she constantly reminds her students that it’s not how far you get in a position, but doing it to the best of your ability and flexibility. She works with her students’ wide range of abilities and limitations. I started with Meggan as a beginner several years ago, and also practiced with her while I was pregnant. She has given me so many modification options depending on what my particular issues were in a class. I use a lot of Meggan’s cues while running and doing Crossfit- “ribs down” is probably the one I use the most! Her classes are mentally and physically challenging. I walk away renewed and rejuvenated every time.” ~Sarah M.

“Meggan Riley is an amazing yoga instructor. She customized several small group classes for me to accommodate my vertigo. Those classes were just as challenging, fun and creative as her regular classes, and I was so happy to be able to continue to practice in this modified way. I am always impressed by the way Meggan truly cares for her clients. She is the best.” ~Sarah S.

“Meggan’s passionate about sharing her moving and meditative knowledge. She has influenced my practice giving me the confidence to move forward in my own yogic journey. She is truly a bright light.” ~Anna M.

“Meggan, thank you for sharing your passion and wonderfully artistic skills with us. As a novice being introduced to Yoga and learning from someone with kindness, integrity, humor & love made such a positive and full experience, so beneficial for the body and mind. Yoga is a journey worth sharing with you.” ~Carrole
