Ananda (Bliss) on the Baja
Baja, Mexico Retreat with Jessie Sandoval & Paula Keck

Follow your bliss to Baja, Mexico, as we embark on a 7-day retreat of self-reflection through the lens of the Koshas–the 5 subtle energy layers of our being. By exploring these layers we can develop a deeper understanding of self and ultimately reconnect with our true bliss.

Your leaders, Jessie and Paula will guide you through daily movement, meditation and mindfulness practices, in a beautiful, tranquil retreat location nestled between the desert and the ocean. As our location is only open to retreat groups, this is a rare opportunity to leave the tourist energy of Cabo San Lucas behind and enjoy a peaceful and wellness-focused stay in Baja.

This retreat is open to all levels of practitioners who are looking to unwind from the stressors of everyday life and return home feeling refreshed and focused.

Enjoy the beauty of Baja, Mexico at this gorgeous oceanfront center. Walk for miles or ride horseback on the spectacular beaches, snorkel in the Sea of Cortez, or relax by the pool, in the hot tub, or in a hammock. Practice yoga in the two unique studios with lovely bamboo floors and expansive windows looking out to the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra de la Laguna mountains. Dine on delicious organic Mexican and international cuisine as you watch the sunset over the Pacific. Then fall asleep to the calming sound of waves on pillow-top mattresses and organic sheets. Immerse yourself in nature with trails to view the diverse flora and fauna and the possibility of seeing hatching sea turtles or humpback whales. Relax and renew your mind and body at this luxurious center with golden sand beaches in the south of Baja, Mexico. The beach directly in front of the property is a gorgeous walking beach. During most of the year, the waves on the beach are too rough for swimming. Groups enjoy swimming in the beautiful pools at the retreat center or by taking a short trip to one of the gentler swimming beaches.

The center features luxurious rooms – with their clean lines and understated elegance – you will drift off into a deep sleep listening to the sound of the crashing waves as they break on the beach. All rooms have views of the ocean and the gardens.

The rooms have polished travertine floors, pillow-top mattresses with 300 thread-count organic sheets, beautiful, custom-crafted teak and rattan furniture, and travertine bathrooms with organic bath towels.

Jessie L. Sandoval, 500 hr RTY Yoga Instructor & owner/founder of Shanti Yoga Center in St. Cloud, MN

In 2019, Jessie opened the doors to Shanti Yoga Center. At Shanti, Jessie aims to offer a robust class schedule, incorporating traditional, modern, hot, and aerial classes, suitable for both beginners and advanced yogis. In addition to her operation duties, Jessie teaches a handful of classes every week, supports private clients, leads specialty workshops, and hosts numerous community events and retreats year-round.

Since Jessie first completed her 200-hr yoga teaching training in Houston, Texas, she has accumulated more than 3,000 hours of teaching experience. She obtained her RYT500 certification with Yoga Alliance and completed her 500-hour training at Yoga North in Duluth, Minnesota, focusing on Therapeutic Soma Yoga and Classic Hatha Yoga. Jessie also completed her Level 1 & 2 training in Unnata® Aerial Yoga and is one of the only studios in the central MN area to offer this style of yoga.

In her classes, Jessie likes to weave in functional movement and strength, creative sequences and lots of props! She is inspired by Ashtanga, Iyengar, Hatha, Yin, SomaYoga, and various vinyasa styles of yoga. Jessie loves bringing the power of the practice; the strength and peace to others. She believes the mind, body and spirit are all touched with the beautiful benefits of yoga. No matter who you are and where you are in your life, yoga can help. Jessie is committed to community and connection; bringing people together to experience shared energy and compassion. She reminds her students often that yoga keeps us remembering that we are all connected, unified in this wonderful universe

Paula Keck, 500 hr RYT Yoga Instructor & Certified Sound Bath Practitioner Paula began practicing yoga in 2001, during her career as a personal trainer and fitness instructor. Rather quickly, she realized that yoga was more than just another exercise class, propelling her into a deeper personal practice, teacher trainings, and a growing desire to share yoga with others.

Her teaching style blends the subtle therapeutic practice of SomaYoga with a strong Vinyasa flow. She loves introducing beginners of all ages and abilities to yoga and its benefits. Her classes are welcoming, heart-lead and honest (and may include an inversion or two!). Her goal for every class is to move students through a thoughtful practice with a positive message—encouraging greater self-awareness, empowerment and peace through the practice of yoga.

Paula is also a Certified Sound Bath Practitioner, using the tools of sound/vibration to create a deeper experience in both yoga classes and full sound bath experiences.

We cannot emphasize the importance of travel insurance. As we all know, especially as travelers, “life happens.” Whether it’s family, work, mother nature, or a change of heart, it is important to be prepared in case you need to unexpectedly change your travel plans. Often for less than $150, you can purchase a travel insurance policy and be protected in the event that you need to make a change or need to be covered financially prior to or during your trip.

We have partnered with two insurance companies: Trawick International and CSA Travel Insurance (available for U.S. Residents only).

Read more about our insurance partners and their policies here. We encourage you to research the insurance company and policy that best meets your needs.
