Sacred Valley, Peru Retreat with Sarah Lindgren
SACRED VALLEY, PERU RETREAT (JUNE 16 – JUNE 22, 2024)
Optional MACHU PICCHU EXCURSION (JUNE 22 – JUNE 24, 2024)
Step out of the hustle and bustle of daily life and begin the sacred journey within. While on retreat, you will have the opportunity to commune with the sacred land once home to the Incan empire.
Surrounded by the beauty of the Andes mountains you will be immersed in nature and the healing qualities that fresh air, nourishing food, daily yoga, and meditation practice provide. In our time together you will have the opportunity to explore the beauty of both the outer world and your inner sanctuary. Fueled by this land’s history and enchanting qualities, you will be invited on your own healing journey through different local ceremonies. Together we will share in the tradition of the Despacho Ceremony which is said to offer ancestral knowledge which fuels the reciprocity between us and our Mother Earth.
On the sacred day of the winter solstice for the Southern Hemisphere, we will honor the return of light to the land and invite the return of vibrancy to our inner light and truth fueled by ancestral wisdom through the practice of yoga, breath work, meditation, and journaling. We will continue this connection with an optional sound bath to further raise the vibration of our shared community and expand the depth of your own inner work. Our final days together lead us via train towards the ancient city of Machu Picchu. On this excursion, you will have the opportunity to be open to the history and ancestral energy that is unique to this site.
Every retreat is accompanied by its unique magic facilitated by the environment and the attendees’ energy. As we share in meals, daily practice and the energetic experience this land has to offer. Naturally, we each begin to drop in and let go of expectations present in our daily lives, finding ourselves refreshed by the joy of community that fosters the creation of lasting friendships.
Onsite at our beautiful retreat center, you are welcome to experience a variety of bodywork and natural spa treatments. You will also have the option of expanding your journey with cocoa leaf readings. These are of the ancestral Andean tradition which plays a part in social ceremonial practice, this is a traditional experience for those seeking answers. Temescal is a ceremonial steam bath ritual. These baths are considered to offer deep healing and purification. Horseback riding is also available through our retreat center where you can explore the area with a guide. This retreat also offers additional day trips to Moray, said to be the energetic seed center of the Sacred Valley. Pisac is a small town with lush markets, Incan architecture, and ruins. We will also have the opportunity for a day of service to the local community.
Join Sarah Lindgren for an 8-day excursion over winter solstice including a week of daily yoga, meditation, and exploration of Manchu Picchu in the Sacred Valley of Peru. The retreat center’s name translates as “love from the ancient forest.” It is nestled in an oasis of native plants and fruit trees, nourished by a magnificent waterfall in the Sacred Valley of Peru. This lovely spot is in the Andes Mountains and home of the twelve mountains known as Apus—“luminous beings.” Those who come to the center have the opportunity to commune directly with these mountains, as well as with the local curanderos and pacos (healers), who engage with us for ritual and Despacho ceremony.
The guests at this center enjoy delicious meals with locally-grown and lovingly-prepared ingredients. Each guest-room is a reflection of the Peruvian culture of the Sacred Valley. The entire center embodies kindness, love, and wholeness that seem to permeate the magical place.
Sarah teaches people how to nurture themselves through grounding and embodiment practices so they can begin to truly love the life they live. Sarah is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (200 E-RYT) working to empower students in public classes, workshops, and yoga retreats. She is also a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) and offers one on one apprenticeship programs. Sarah is dedicated to utilizing the teachings of yoga that break down the barriers within our lives. In her class, you can expect breath-based and functional movement techniques as well as energetic practices like pranayama and meditation.
Sarah began practicing yoga in 2006 while expecting her first daughter. That initial experience of being present in her body was one of profound self-realization. She became aware that she had been missing self-love and empowerment since adolescence. This life-altering experience drove her to dig deeper into alternative solutions for healing and wholeness. Sarah began to cultivate a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between the mind and body experience and societal expectations. Through her dedicated practice and self-awareness, she found yoga and its accompanying modalities to be an indispensable practice of reclaiming and healing her human spirit.
Sarah took the next step on her path by obtaining her 200-hour certification in 2016 from Moksha Yoga in Chicago with Daren Friesen. She completed this program with more than 700 hours of training. Her training has included studying under internationally acclaimed teachers Gary Kraftsow, Aadil Palkhivala, and Jason Crandell. Sarah has also worked closely with local teachers Jim Bennett, Wade Gotwals, and Amber Cook. Including advanced 100-hour training with Karuna Yoga and Tejas Yoga, Yoga to Transform Trauma with Katherine Ashton, and multiple subtle body training sessions. Sarah continues to embrace being a student of this expansive practice and its ability to heal. Sarah is currently enrolled in a 300-hour training to continue her education and ability to meet people where they are with greater knowledge and understanding of yoga practices and philosophy.
