Summer Satsang: A Jivamukti Yoga and Meditation Retreat
Peebles, Ohio Retreat with Jennifer Lenhart
Deep summer in Ohio = crickets and cicadas chirping; fireflies twinkling; late afternoon thunderstorms; glorious sunrises and sunsets; green, lush deciduous forests; and long, warm “dog days.” Our retreat center, nestled in the Appalachian foothills on 130 acres in Southern Ohio, is an idyllic and secluded setting with a gorgeous practice space for us to come together in a spiritual community (Satsang) to take a deep summer immersion into deep practice.
Retreats offer us the gift of stepping away from the busyness of daily life in order to reconnect with nature and ourselves, to fill the cup of our spiritual heart, to build community and friendships with like-minded seekers, and to work on our spiritual practice in an immersive and intentional way.
Our retreat will include twice daily breath-centered and mindful Jivamukti yoga asana practices; guided and silent seated meditation; walking meditation (on the outdoor labyrinth); pranayama (breathing exercises); talks, discussions, and study focusing on the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali; and chanting mantras accompanied by the harmonium. We will enjoy a compassionate diet of nourishing home-cooked plant-based meals. There will also be free time each day to enjoy hiking, birding, stargazing, solitude, reflection, silence, a fire pit, drum circles, napping, swimming, resting, reading, connecting with others, or exploring nearby nature preserves. An optional excursion day during the week will allow for a longer day trip to the nearby Serpent Mound Historical Site, or into Chillicothe or Cincinnati, or to a nature preserve, etc. But those who prefer to spend the optional excursion day at the retreat center are welcome to do so as well.

- 3 meals per day starting with dinner on the first night and ending with breakfast on the last day

- Daily yoga practices
- Personal retreat time (having time to nap, explore, walk, read, and just be)

Jennifer Lenhart
Jennifer Lenhart is the owner of Satsang Yoga Studio in Berea, Ohio. She is a certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher and is recognized by Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 500. She began practicing yoga in the mid-1990s and has been teaching yoga since 2009. She is a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP); a certified Thai Yoga Massage practitioner; has led residential yoga & meditation retreats locally, nationally, and internationally; is a certified Y12SR: Yoga of 12-Step Recovery Leader; and holds a Master’s Degree in English Literature. In her classes, expect to hear eclectic music, practice devotional chanting, consider how the teachings and philosophy of yoga can be applied to modern life, be asked to bring awareness to the breath, be encouraged to find optimal alignment in the asanas, and experience skillful hands-on assists. And probably enjoy some laughter, too.
TESTIMONIALS:
“Jennifer is open and friendly and has a light-hearted feel to her classes. She is not the ‘practice at the front of the room and everyone else should follow’ teacher–she is the teacher who explains, very specifically, what the class is to do and demos only as needed (e.g. for newer students or complicated poses). She is all over the room doing hands-on adjustments and her savasana massages are divine. Sequencing is clearly planned for best practice, and students are often challenged (but never forced) to try new or more complicated poses. Spiritually founded classes that are not too heavy on the spiritual stuff but remind the student that it’s there–as it should be–check her out.”
“Jennifer helped me understand mindfulness when I started practicing yoga years ago. She is such a warm, wise, and loving woman, and she is an excellent yoga instructor. She lives a true yogi life. I completely trust and honor Jennifer.”
“Jennifer is a wonderful teacher that guides students through a slow engaging flow. She provides plenty of options for all levels, and her classes are welcoming to a beginner yet provide a challenge to an experienced yogi.
She teaches mindful awareness to the core and helps students to build core strength in any pose. She brings laughter to the practice and the joy of being human on our mats. I highly recommend Jennifer to people new to the mat, and long-time yogis as well.”
There will be plenty of time for yoga in the beautiful octagonal studio space or meditation in the fire ceremony temple. Sit and take it all in at one of three ponds or get moving on the hiking trail. Honor the mind, body, spirit, and earth at every turn on this sacred space.

Travel Insurance
We cannot emphasize more the importance of travel insurance. As we all know, especially as travelers, “life happens.” Whether it’s family, work, mother nature, or a change of heart, it is important to be prepared in case you need to unexpectedly change your travel plans. Often for less than $150, you can purchase a travel insurance policy and be protected in the event that you need to make a change or need to be covered financially prior to or during your trip.
We have partnered with two insurance companies: Trawick International and CSA Travel Insurance (available for U.S. Residents only).
Read more about our insurance partners and their policies here. We encourage you to research the insurance company and policy that best meets your needs.
