Join Amy and Tracy to discover the true meaning of Pura Vida!
When translated, Pura Vida means “pure life” or “simple life” but in Costa Rica, it is more than just a saying—it is a WAY OF LIFE. We invite you to leave behind the busy-ness of your daily schedule with the intention of establishing a Pura Vida state of mind to carry you through 2020!
During the retreat, we will explore yoga through an uplifting Vinyasa Flow practice as we elevate our awareness and open our hearts to the beauty of Costa Rica. All classes will be geared to all levels of practitioners with modifications offered… beginners are very welcome! You will enjoy a sense of community and connection with others while accepting the opportunity to drop into your SELF. Throughout the week we will work to unveil the most vibrant, positive and HAPPIEST versions of ourselves!
We’ll also immerse ourselves in the beauty and culture of our surroundings. In our downtime, we’ll enjoy swimming in the Pacific Ocean (located right outside your door), relaxing by the pool, walking the beautiful coastline and eating deliciously prepared local cuisine. You’ll also be given options for excursions like hiking through the rainforest, snorkeling off Tortuga Island, zip-lining over the treetops, horseback riding, and surf lessons…to name a few! Or maybe you’d prefer to relax with a massage at the on-site spa. The choice is yours.
Rise with the sun or sleep in…it’s up to you! Relax with a cup of coffee to the sound of the ocean waves, or go for a walk along the beautiful Costa Rican coastline. Each morning we’ll meet for a yoga practice to welcome the day, and a delicious breakfast will be offered in the restaurant. After our morning practice and meal, we’ll enjoy free time to explore or relax. Lunch and dinner will be offered daily in the restaurant, however you’re welcome to explore the local restaurants of Santa Teresa whenever you’d like. Each afternoon or early evening, we’ll meet back at the yoga shala for a yoga practice and a recount of the day’s adventures!
We’ll offer one dedicated “adventure day” during the retreat in which we will not offer scheduled yoga classes. On this day, we’ll urge you to take advantage of some of the longer, more involved tours and adventure offerings in the area. The flow of the retreat will be organic and subject to shift and change.
We look forward to connecting with each of you and providing an opportunity to experience joy, freedom and abundance without the distractions of everyday life. This escape to paradise will leave you feeling energized, empowered, renewed…and ready to take on 2020. Join us as we embark on this adventure of a lifetime. We have a spot reserved just for YOU. Pura Vida!

Amy was introduced to the benefits of yoga in 2001while living in Charleston, SC. She initially established a yoga practice to help alleviate stress and release tension resulting from daily life in corporate sales, but she soon discovered that the practice was much deeper and more vast than she ever imagined! Her curiosity grew, along with her dedication to a healthy, conscious lifestyle centered around yoga. After moving to Austin in 2011, she made the decision to leave the corporate world to spend precious time with her young children, while exploring different styles of yoga and meditation. She soon received her 200RYT certification through an Austin-based Hatha Flow program, then started Total Balance Yoga, a company that provided on-site yoga to local businesses. In 2015, Amy opened Studio Mantra, a Yoga and Wellness Studio in Austin that offers many types of Yoga classes, Pilates and Barre classes, Massage Therapy, Energy Work and Creative Workshops. The studio, and the beautiful community that supports it, are very close to Amy’s heart and she feels extremely grateful to be a part of it all!
In 2016, Amy began studying with her teacher and mentor, Amy Ippoliti, an international yoga teacher/author/Earth activist in Boulder, Colorado. Through many trips to Boulder over the years (and a 7-day immersion training in Nosara, Costa Rica) Amy completed her 300 hours of training with Amy I., but she’ll continue to honor her studentship as she plans to attend many more immersive trainings with her beloved teacher in Boulder and all over the world in the many years to come!
Amy’s teaching style is challenging, yet playful…motivating, yet mindful. By linking breath with movement, Amy guides students through creative, flow-based sequences while offering insightful alignment cues and modifications. Many of her classes are theme-based with the goal of applying ancient yoga philosophy to modern day life, and she loves incorporating all types of music into her classes from DJ Drez to My Morning Jacket to Willie Nelson! She caters to students of all levels & abilities and provides a space where all feel welcome and comfortable. Amy looks forward to joining her yoga colleague/friend, Tracy Liberman, for their 2020 retreat in beautiful Santa Teresa, Costa Rica!
Tracy, a mountain girl turned Texan, began working in the fitness realm in 1997 as the director of a children’s gymnastics center. In 2001, she moved on to program directing for a local Pilates Studio where she was reintroduced to Yoga, inspiring her to learn more.
Shortly thereafter, she completed her Hatha certification at the 200-hour level through Yoga Yoga TT in Austin Texas and became registered through The Yoga Alliance, RYT. After teaching for a bit, and becoming a mother, Tracy found it a natural next step to add Pre and Postnatal Yoga training to her resume and completed her training with Leslie Lytle in 2005.
Tracy’s fun-loving teaching style is that of rhythm and flow, influenced greatly by the teachings of B. K. S. Iyengar, Shiva Rea, Ana Forrest & Kathryn Budig. Tracy encourages her students to fluidly move through Vinyasa while deepening postures and finding ease through the effort. Tracy looks to her students for inspiration, personalizing each class she teaches. Tracy’s playlists are a bit eclectic, often you’ll hear Yaz, Krishna Das, Toto, and the Dixie Chicks within the same hour…singing along is always encouraged! Tracy is thrilled to join Amy Hogan – friend and colleague on this amazing adventure, Pura Vida!
