Dive deeply into the ancient sister sciences of yoga and ayurveda while in the presence of the majestic beauty of Costa Rica. Our seven-day immersion into the five elements will be hosted within a pristine eco-lodge, on the edge of a national forest, with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. In addition, this location features vegetarian meals with locally-grown produce, ocean view cabins, and an outdoor yoga pavilion built on the principles of sacred geometry.
Each day will feature yoga, lectures, and workshops on one of the five elements: Air, Water, Ether, Fire, Earth. Course material will offer dietary, lifestyle, and other ayurvedic guidelines on how to balance the five elements (whether in excess or deficiency). Yoga, meditation, and other nurturing practices such as swimming, hiking, and dancing will be offered each day in alignment with balancing each of the elements, as well. Thai and ayurvedic bodywork treatments will also be available, upon request.
Our physical practices of yoga will be a combination of gentle vinyasa, alignment-based/therapeutic yoga, ayurvedic yoga therapy, restorative yoga, and yoga nidra. In accordance with the yogic path of selfless service, we will also be incorporating yet another important practice into our retreat – karma yoga – the act of achieving spiritual union through selfless service to others. Our karma yoga practice will bring us even closer to the five elements of the earthly realm as we spend a day together caring for rescued sea turtles on the Pacific Coast.
This retreat is open to both beginners and advanced practitioners of yoga and ayurveda. Continuing Education units are available for both Yoga Alliance and National Ayurvedic Medical Association, upon request.

Beautiful, eco-friendly accommodations situated amidst acres of lush gardens, hiking trails, and a secluded jungle trail leading to Playa Uvita, a beautiful beach (only a 15-minute walk). The atmosphere of the retreat center is simple, healthy, and relaxed. Rooms are single or double occupancy. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prepared daily and include healthy vegetarian options along with fish and/or chicken. The food is organic when available and prepared with nourishing ingredients.
Gorgeous bungalow style accommodations all with huge ocean views, where you can see Ballena National Marine Park, the rainforest, and much more. All of the rooms are made from reforested wood from our trees planted on the same land 20 years ago. The architecture includes local craftsmanship using wood, stone, shell, and sand.
Every retreat is unique and, as such, the itineraries are ever-changing! We finalize the itineraries about 3-6 weeks before the retreat, but after 10 years of hosting retreats, we do have a general idea of what most schedules look like.
Most retreats include one-to-two daily yoga classes. One class takes place in the morning, either just before or just after breakfast. After the first class and meal, you have free time to explore, relax, or take part in optional add-on activities. Lunch (if included in your retreat) will take place midday, during this free time. There is then, usually, an afternoon class followed by dinner. Occasionally some teachers choose to offer an evening restorative class or group gathering after dinner as well.
In addition, there is usually one dedicated “excursion day” in which we do not have scheduled yoga classes. This is a day for people to take advantage of some of the more involved tour and excursion offerings and is always a lot of fun!
Again, this is a very general look at what your retreat schedule could be. We work closely with the teachers to design unique itineraries that reflect their style and the group that’s traveling with them. Once your specific retreat itinerary is complete, we will send it out via email, usually two or more weeks before the retreat starts. Please keep in mind all retreat itineraries are subject to change.
