Deepen your connection to Mother Earth and all her beings as you practice in one of the most biologically diverse places on the planet. While in Costa Rica, it is impossible not to be awed by the countless, beautiful ways that life is manifest; while there we begin to understand more deeply that all beings wish to be happy and free, and that all life, no matter what form it takes, comes from the same source. We move closer to realizing the oneness of being.
In the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, we are taught the following regarding the practice of asana: Sthira Sukham Asanam. This translates as asana, meaning connection to the earth, should be steady (sthira) and joyful (sukham). In other words, practicing yoga asana is the method by which we develop a steady and joyful relationship to the earth and all her beings. Twice-daily yoga and mediation practices will help us to release held tension and to cultivate strength and clarity. When we feel our connection to the earth through our body we become confident, serene, and peaceful. As a result we are more likely to be kind and compassionate in thought, word, and deed. Stepping away from our hectic, technology-filled lives and slowing down for a week to deepen our practice by immersing ourselves in the rich biodiversity of the Costa Rican rainforest is truly a transformative experience.
Our morning practice will be energetic and taught in a flowing, breath-centered vinyasa style; our evening practice will be relaxing and restful. Periods of guided and silent meditation will be included in addition to conscious breath work. The best way to uplift our own lives is to uplift the lives of others, and in that spirit, we will also undertake a karma yoga service project as part of our Costa Rica experience. Plenty of free time is included to enjoy the area’s natural wonders and the amenities of the eco-lodge and biodynamic farm that will be our hOMe for 7 nights.
Every retreat is unique and, as such, the itineraries are ever-changing! We finalize the itineraries about 3-6 weeks before the retreat, but after 10 years of hosting retreats, we do have a general idea of what most schedules look like.
Most retreats include one-to-two daily yoga classes. One class takes place in the morning, either just before or just after breakfast. After the first class and meal, you have free time to explore, relax, or take part in optional add-on activities. Lunch (if included in your retreat) will take place midday, during this free time. There is then, usually, an afternoon class followed by dinner. Occasionally some teachers choose to offer an evening restorative class or group gathering after dinner as well.
In addition, there is usually one dedicated “excursion day” in which we do not have scheduled yoga classes. This is a day for people to take advantage of some of the more involved tour and excursion offerings and is always a lot of fun!
Again, this is a very general look at what your retreat schedule could be. We work closely with the teachers to design unique itineraries that reflect their style and the group that’s traveling with them. Once your specific retreat itinerary is complete, we will send it out via email, usually two or more weeks before the retreat starts. Please keep in mind all retreat itineraries are subject to change.

You will stay at a sustainable, rainforest eco-lodge hotel providing comfortable accommodations amidst acres of lush gardens, hiking trails, and a secluded jungle. The atmosphere at the retreat center is simple, healthy, and relaxed. Rooms are single, double, or triple occupancy with fans and hot water. The eco-lodge has a beautiful chlorine-free swimming pool and jacuzzi. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prepared daily and include healthy vegetarian options. The food is organic and local when available, prepared with nourishing ingredients and lots of love. We do our best to honor your registration type. If enrollment pairings are such that we cannot honor the occupancy type you have selected, we will contact you 90 days prior to your trip. Cleveland-area yoga teacher Jennifer Lenhart began practicing in the late 1990s and graduated from Marni Task’s 200-hour Jivasara Yoga Teacher Training in 2009. She is registered with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT (experienced, registered yoga teacher) and is a YACEP (Yoga Alliance continuing education provider). She’s taught over 5,000 hours since graduating, including group classes, private sessions, workshops, local retreats, and in 2018, an international retreat in Costa Rica. She has continued to deepen her understanding and practice through continual self-study, meditation and asana practice, extensive reading, and attending workshops and trainings. In June 2019, she is honored to be completing a second yoga teacher training: the 300-hour Jivamukti Yoga Teacher certification program that will be held in Costa Rica.
Jennifer loves practicing and teaching yoga. Having experienced the transformative and healing power of yoga and meditation she is passionate about sharing them with others. She encourages students to start where they are and to see how the gifts of their yoga practice can be carried off their mats and into their day-to-day lives. Students are invited to explore and deepen their practice as she offers detailed alignment instruction, suggestions for modifications and use of props, and hands-on assists and adjustments. All levels of practitioner, from brand-new beginners to advanced students are welcome. In her classes, expect to hear inspirational music, practice some devotional chanting of Sanskrit mantras, consider how the teachings of yoga can be applied to modern life, be asked to bring awareness and focus to the breath, be encouraged to find optimal alignment in the postures, and be invited to bring a sense of mindfulness and curiosity to all areas of the practice – body, mind, and spirit. And probably enjoy some laughter too.
In addition to her yoga teacher certification, she is also a certified Thai Yoga massage practitioner. Jennifer understands the power of yoga and meditation to help people who are in recovery from addiction and is a certified leader of Y12SR (Yoga of 12-Step Recovery). In 2017, she started a Refuge Recovery meeting (Buddhist-inspired path to recovery) in her hometown. She also holds a Masters Degree in English Literature.
