The retreat center’s name translates as “love from the ancient forest.” It is nestled in an oasis of native plants and fruit trees, nourished by a magnificent waterfall in the Sacred Valley of Peru. This lovely spot is in the Andes Mountains and home of the twelve mountains known as Apus—“luminous beings.” Those who come to the center have the opportunity to commune directly with these mountains, as well as with the local curanderos and pacos (healers), who engage with us for ritual and Despacho ceremony.
The guests at this center enjoy delicious meals with locally-grown and lovingly-prepared ingredients. Each guest room is a reflection of the Peruvian culture of the Sacred Valley. The entire center embodies kindness, love, and wholeness that seem to permeate the magical place.
Kat is a passionate yogi + wellness blogger with a thirst for adventure and seeking “the good stuff” in life. After leaving her demanding corporate marketing job 2014 to pursue teaching full time, she has found a completely new outlook on life and understands the stress and sensory-overload her students face on a daily basis all too well.
Kat completed her 200-hour intensive training in Bali, and brings the spirituality and beauty she discovered there with her in every class she teaches. She has also spent additional time expanding her practice with renowned teachers Kathryn Budig, Maty Ezraty, Margo Kellison Lightburn and Noah Maze, all of whom she considers to be inspirational in her approach to yoga.
In 2015, Kat began her dynamic anatomy study with international movement educator Dr. Eric Franklin. Kat is currently on the discovery path of combining Franklin Method dynamic imagery theory with yoga and is seeing mind-blowing results. She is somewhat of an anatomy ‘nerd’, closeted computer geek, francophile, wanderlust gypsy, and free spirit rolled into one. She lives to eat, dance to good jams, and teach people how to rock a handstand.
Nick Larsen teaches cYoga: a dynamic style of yoga designed by Carmen Aguilar. This style of yoga focuses in on the theme and the sequencing of the class to properly warm up, build, peak, and cool down the students. Classes are meant to challenge every student regardless of their yogi abilities, yet meant to give every student the chance to walk out with a sense of accomplishment and a smile on their face: from the first timer, to the athlete who’s seeking to supplement their regimen, to the veteran yogi progressing their practice. Since Nick started teaching in 2012, he has never had a student fail. He enjoys seeing the natural camaraderie that develops in his classes as students support each other in their journey. Nick also puts a large emphasis on physical assists and verbal coaching to help improve every student’s alignment and mastery of the yoga asanas in their individual practice. Expect to try something new, work hard, and have a ton of fun.
