Your body; every body, has a story. It is as uniquely and authentically your own as is your breath. No one can breathe in the manner that you do – so too, only you can be you. Beginning with the trope, “Everything you are is everything you need,” discover how our mind-body relationship can be one of exquisite trust and connection.

How can we write and understand our lived experiences as inspiring stories, rather than inhabit a world of magical thinking, desirous of “something” else? How can we discover and trust our innate gifts, in order to grow, to become and be from a place of inner strength?

Join Sarah for an inspiring week on the sun-drenched beaches of Costa Rica! This retreat is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of yoga through writing-based meditations and conversations and twice daily aligned flow and restorative asana practices. You will have ample free time to walk or swim in the ocean, take advantage of exciting excursions, or savor relaxing spa treatments. Whatever you choose, relish and receive the fullness of your whole self as an invitation to find a nourishing and nurturing inner peace.

Sample Itinerary

Every retreat is unique and, as such, the itineraries are ever-changing! We finalize the itineraries about 3-6 weeks before the retreat, but after 10 years of hosting retreats, we do have a general idea of what most schedules look like.

Most retreats include one-to-two daily yoga classes. One class takes place in the morning, either just before or just after breakfast. After the first class and meal, you have free time to explore, relax, or take part in optional add-on activities. Lunch (if included in your retreat) will take place midday, during this free time. During the afternoon, Sarah will also be available for private mentoring sessions. There is then, usually, an afternoon class followed by dinner. Occasionally some teachers choose to offer an evening restorative class or group gathering after dinner as well.

In addition, there is usually one dedicated “excursion day” in which we do not have scheduled yoga classes. This is a day for people to take advantage of some of the more involved tour and excursion offerings and is always a lot of fun!

Again, this is a very general look at what your retreat schedule could be. We work closely with the teachers to design unique itineraries that reflect their style and the group that’s traveling with them. Once your specific retreat itinerary is complete, we will send it out via email, usually two or more weeks before the retreat starts. Please keep in mind all retreat itineraries are subject to change.

Accommodations

The retreat will be held at an intimate beachfront hotel and yoga center located in Santa Teresa, a breathtaking white sand beach on the Pacific Ocean of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula. Situated on four acres of unspoiled tropical beach, you will find beautiful swimming areas and also outcroppings of rock where natural tide pools form. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prepared daily and include healthy vegetarian options along with fish and/or chicken. The food is organic when available and prepared with nourishing ingredients.

Sarah Webb, MFA, E-RYT® 500

Sarah’s path is comprised of many stitches. From the artist’s studio to the yoga studio, she has explored unique ways to create, to practice, and to make meaning.  But at heart, Sarah has always been a maker and a teacher.

In 2000, after a lifetime of living with scoliosis, Sarah began a new practice and a new journey, from body constricted to body empowered.

Her training has been guided and inspired by the Anusara School of Hatha Yoga, studying with Christina Sell as well as immersive studies with Dr. Douglas Brooks and Vishali Varga. In addition, Sarah is honored to have worked with and assisted Elise Miller and Judith Lasater. In 2016, Sarah became a certified Recovery Coach, working closely with people suffering from alcohol dependency.

Sarah weaves her critical, visual and perceptual background into a unique environment for students to map and make meaning of their individual body’s stories and experiences. She currently teaches, mentors, and co-leads teacher trainings with Erica Ebert Denman at Balance Fitness, Webster, NY and has led retreats in the Dominican Republic, India, and Monhegan, Maine.

Getting There

You will be booking your flights for the San Jose International Airport (SJO). Before booking tickets, please be sure you have received your official confirmation note that the retreat has met its minimums. There will be one group airport shuttle each way based on our flight window guidelines. Be sure your flights align with the provided flight windows if you wish to use the group shuttle.
