Journey with us for a yoga vacation to traverse new roads, meet new people, and explore new ways of being in your body and in the world. Each day we will greet the morning with a varied practice of yoga, pranayama, and meditation and close most days the same way.
In between, we will explore local sites such as the Chi Chi market and town of Santiago. One day we will hike to El Pico De Cielo with local tour guides and enjoy a picnic lunch at the summit.
The Sanskrit word Seva means service. As part of our week we will practice Seva by supporting a local community. There will be plenty of time for integrating your experience with reading, resting, or just hanging out in the lush gardens or pool area at Villa Sumaya. The trip includes three fresh, vegetarian meals each day (meat options are available at an additional cost).
Following your day of travel, which culminates in a splendid 45-minute boat-ride across Lake Atitlan, we’ll have an opening ceremony to gather us all together and end the day on a relaxing and peaceful note.
Start the day with morning yoga (not too early) to gradually awaken and energize, in the beautiful lakeside Blue Tiger Temple. After a delicious breakfast, enjoy a spacious day of your own design. Explore Sumaya’s beauty and let the weariness of travel wash away. Perhaps you’ll choose to swim, kayak or get a massage. Late afternoon yoga will unwind and restore you.
Following morning practices to open the body and heart, we’ll adventure into nearby shaman caves and explore the world of Mayan mysteries. With late afternoon yoga we’ll dive into the divine inner landscape of the human body.
Morning practices and a hearty breakfast are followed by an unforgettable hike to El Pico De Cielo, which, at 8,200 feet above sea level, offers a spectacular view of the Atitlan basin below. Gain keen insight into the culture and people of Guatemala from expert local guides. Our day ends with a well-earned restorative yoga session to unwind and release.
*Schedule subject to change. A full schedule will be provided to participants one month prior to the trip.
