Join Amanda and Bobbie for an inspiring journey immersed in the beauty of Peru’s Sacred Valley. Aligning with nature’s rhythm, each day begins with vibrant, challenging Vinyasa Yoga in preparation for the day ahead. Cultural excursions are planned to delight and soothe our urbanized senses, reconnecting us back to the power of the elements with renewed reverence. Throughout the retreat, opportunities to serve the local community in meaningful ways will foster the qualities of compassion and selflessness deep within, taking the yoga practice truly off-the-mat. The center’s name translates as “love from the ancient forest.” It is nestled in an oasis of native plants and fruit trees, nourished by a magnificent waterfall in the Sacred Valley of Peru. This lovely spot is in the Andes Mountains and home of the twelve mountains known as Apus—“luminous beings.” Those who come to the center have the opportunity to commune directly with these mountains, as well as with the local curanderos and pacos (healers), who engage with us for ritual and ceremony.
The guests at this center enjoy delicious meals with locally-grown and lovingly-prepared ingredients. Each guest room is a reflection of the Peruvian culture of the Sacred Valley. The entire center embodies kindness, love, and wholeness that seem to permeate the magical place.
Amanda Harding is the owner of Prema Yoga Brooklyn, where she teaches weekly Vinyasa flow classes as well as private/corporate clients across NYC & Los Angeles through her company, Karuna NYC. She is the creator of a program ‘Yoga on Set’ which provides weekly yoga sessions to the cast and crews of NY based film and television shoots. Currently one of Lululemon’s Brooklyn Ambassadors, she has been featured in Vogue and Origin Magazine and holds yearly sold out retreats to such locales as Tulum, Costa Rica, the Berkshires, Australia, and more. Heavily influenced by Tibetan Buddhist philosophy as well as the Bhakti yoga tradition, Amanda teaches an Ashtanga-influenced vigorous yet mindful and creative class incorporating the fluidity of dance and music/chanting with a heavy emphasis on alignment, breath, patience, and fun. She has witnessed in her own life how creating spaciousness in her body, mind, and heart, and truly ‘walking the walk’ with humility has immensely impacted her relationship with herself and others. Her wish is to impart to her students the many gifts she has received through her ongoing practice and studies–a greater sense of authenticity, inner peace, strength, compassion and, most of all, service to others. Pursuing her love of dance, Bobbie moved from her native Toronto to NY in 2005. Though the equation of dancer to yoga teacher is a common one; it was an illness that tuned her into the power of a daily, dedicated practice. Bobbie’s classes….well, it depends what you’re coming for. Her vinyasa classes are creative, challenging, and fun. Drawing on her dance background, the sequencing is expressive and fluid while encouraging alignment (and a healthy use of props!). Her yin/stretch/restorative classes are an invitation to pause, yield to the sense of support, turn inward and take the practice to a quiet, nourishing place; away from the external stress of our busy lives. Endless gratitude to teachers Diana Lockett, Amanda Harding, and Raghunath for their encouragement, support and loving guidance on this incredible journey.
“Amanda possesses all the qualities I look for in a teacher—warmth, knowledge, encouragement and strength. Her classes are incredibly invigorating…I never want to miss them.”—Naomi Watts
“Amanda’s class is the highlight of my week. After just 40 minutes of stretching and breathing, I feel rejuvenated and more connected spirit, mind, and body. Amanda brings the perfect combination of care and humor to her classes. It’s the perfect pause in a busy day.”—Lucy Liu
“Bobbie’s classes have been a highlight for me for over four years now. Under her spirited guidance, I’ve watched my own practice transform. Whether it’s vinyasa or yin/restorative, she imbues each class with her signature style, humor, and grace. After our time on the mat together, I always walk away feeling balanced and rejuvenated. She is truly a gem of a teacher.”—Justin Donham
