Yoga began as a practice of renunciation. That is to say; classical yoga encourages one to disengage from what is seen as the traps of the material world: no family, no possessions, no attachments. As yoga evolved and blossomed into what we now call Tantra, the practice was no longer focused on renunciation of life but full engagement with it. This engagement focus acknowledges that if we want to be fulfilled, there are four aims of life that need our conscious, ethical, and balanced attention and participation.

Retreat Intention:

Jordan and Monique are deeply committed to living fulfilled lives with interesting and exciting professional opportunities and enriching personal experiences. Yes… we work hard and we play hard! The goal of life is to explore and grow through experience. Our hope is that with these teachings you will find a deeper sense of self and build the courage to do the next thing.

8-Limb Power Yoga™:

The asana practice is a balanced sequence of pose and counterpose transitions. Each pose prepares you for the next pose that’s coming as well as deepening the pose that came before it. Each sequence builds on the previous sequence allowing the student to move deeper with each series of poses. The practice is set to a curated playlist that builds within the sequence and assists in setting the mind at ease as the instruction is given.

Yoga Activated™

Using the 8-Limb Power Yoga framework, Yoga Activated aims to bring awareness to the movements that take the student from pose to pose. The practice focuses on increasing body awareness by teaching basic anatomy & physiology. It develops core strength through slow and controlled transitions and holds. It fosters grace by using the newfound mobility in the flow from pose to pose.

Practice Amplifications:

To deepen the asana experience classes use Pranayama (breath work), Mantra (chanting), Dharana & Dyhana (meditation & introspection) to move the student through the inner experience of deepening their sense of self.

Dharma Talks:

Philosophical discourses once a day to introduce one of the four aims (Artha, Kama, Moksha, Dharma) and how they can be applied to the current challenges that face each of us. As a part of the talks, students are encouraged to ask questions and bring experiences to the group for deeper exploration and discussion.

Private Sessions:

Each student is invited to sign up to have 30-minute private one-on-one discussions with Jordan and Monique to explore ways to apply these teachings to their practice and lives. In addition, Raj Dubey will be in attendance at the retreat and be offering Vedic Astrology sessions. “Raj Dubey, a skilled Vedic astrologer and scientist, brings a wealth of wisdom passed down from his grandparents, who taught him astrology, palmistry, and Ayurveda.”

Jordan Lashley

At the age of 25, Jordan stepped into his first yoga class, and life was never the same again. In his book, There Is No Me; he shares the compelling story of his development as a yoga practitioner, teacher, and man driven by the deeper questions of life. Jordan is a Yoga Instructor with 20 years of experience studying, teaching, and sharing this beautiful practice with students of all levels. He completed his 200-hour RYT training in 2009 at the Baptiste Yoga Studio in Cambridge, MA, and has also completed comprehensive training in Jivamukti Yoga with Sharon Gannon and David Life, Yin Yoga with Josh Summers, and a 300hr yoga philosophy certification from Embodied Philosophy. Jordan believes that “Yoga is about balance, in every possible way. Strength, flexibility, balancing on one foot, balancing your emotional state, mental perspective, and life… we are at our best when we achieve as much balance as possible.” For two decades, Jordan has been dedicated to the pursuit of truth as seen through the lens of yoga philosophy. As part of that journey, he realized that he needed to build a community where fellow seekers could practice asana while exploring the deeper nature of what it means to be a good and fulfilled human. In his classes, you will work hard physically, challenge your paradigm of the world, and connect to something bigger than yourself.  Jordan’s students experience a rigorous workout through his yoga sequences set to playlists that highlight his years as a DJ. The surprise is his gift to read the room, know what you need, and share philosophical and spiritual teachings at just the right moment of receptivity. Jordan teaches meditation, breath control, mantra, philosophy, and a dynamic, powerful flow in each class.

Monique Allen

Monique was first introduced to yoga in the mid-1970s by her mother and continued to dabble in the practice until 2018 when she took the leap into a committed practice and teacher training at The Burning Wheel Yoga School.

She began teaching in 2023 and has now completed her 500RYT through Yoga Alliance and teaches with a focus on proper alignment and engagement of the bones and muscles to develop flexibility and strength in the practice.

Trained as a dancer Monique developed the Yoga ActivatedTM practice to riff off of Jordan’s 8-Limb Power YogaTM by leaning into the details of the transition between poses. This practice assists in building body awareness, core strength, and graceful mobility by bringing attention and intention to each movement between the poses.

As a business owner, employer, coach, mother of three, and student of psychology, Monique is passionate about weaving the tenants of physical, spiritual, and relational practices into all corners of her life. It is through reading, studying, and gathering with like-minded seekers that Monique continues to evolve as a yoga practitioner and active participant in life.

Monique is the founder of The Garden Continuum and its signature Life-Scape Method outlined in her book STOP Landscaping, START Life-Scaping. As the Lifescape Coach, she guides small business owners toward the path of self-realization and liberation as entrepreneurs. Monique loves to have her hands in the soil, ride her motorcycle, and cook for her friends and family.
