Yoga and Mindfulness in Italy
Umbria, Italy Retreat with Amanda May

We hear Italy and think: art, food, wine. The idea alone evokes a timeless quality that is simultaneously grounding and expansive. Rich with tradition and culture and filled with architectural splendor highlighted by peaceful, pastoral countryside, join us for a feast for the senses and renewal for the heart. There is old, sweet, magic in the ancient springs and rolling hills of central Italy, and no one who comes here leaves without feeling that energy has seeped into your skin and touched your soul.

Spend a week with Amanda, tapping into the breadth and depth of that energy, for rejuvenation on every level of your being. Prepare for both exploration and rest, deep connection to nature and to community, and a profound opening of your senses and awakening of your creative muse.

You’ll enjoy a daily yoga practice, a day-long excursion to Orvieto, and a traditional Tuscan cooking class included with your tuition.

Optional excursions such as hot springs, wine tasting, bodywork and sound healing will be available if you are interested.

There’s plenty of space if you prefer down time and to simply rest in the beauty of this pastoral setting.

In the heart of green Umbria, this hidden gem is tucked amongst the rolling hills of Tuscany. This charming farmhouse has been restored according to the principles of bio-architecture and is ideal for those interested in a change to truly retreat from the world. Get closer to nature and spend your retreat coming into harmony with the natural rhythms of life at this eco-friendly wellness center. With 17 historic rooms, a pool of vitalizing water, three stunning yoga rooms, a restaurant with wonderful vegetarian cuisine, and lots of beautiful outdoor space to enjoy this is a venue not to be missed!

The interiors of the farmhouse are in typical Umbrian style, with terracotta floors and exposed beams and bricks. The center is furnished with an original mix of classic and ethnic, which gives charm and elegance to your retreat experience. In their luscious park, surrounded by oaks trees, the swimming pool of natural waters is an amazing privilege. The pool is in the form of a natural pond, surrounded by volcanic boulders, and consists of three basins connected to each other by a system of rocky cascades. It is a place to rejuvenate and find true wellness, with a large Jacuzzi in the center.

This Tuscan farmhouse is the perfect place for a nature holiday in the green heart of Italy, with its untouched landscapes lined with historic towns. This retreat center is available year-round, giving you access to Italy throughout all of its breathtaking seasons.

Amanda May

After suffering a childhood injury to her spine, Amanda grew up living with chronic pain. She began practicing yoga and meditation in 1994, which transformed her body, heart and life from the inside out. Yoga was her pathway to healing. She quickly discovered the intimate and inextricable connection between what we think–emotionally, intellectually and spiritually–and how it is reflected in our bodies.

Amanda has taught yoga and meditation for over 15 years, and is passionate about sharing this transformative experience with others. She is an experienced instructor, and has completed over 500 hours of yoga teacher training in Kundalini yoga, as well as through a comprehensive Yoga Alliance certification at the 500-hour level (RYT500).  Amanda continues to study and practice multiple forms of healing. She has a Masters in Psychology, is a Duke University-trained Integrative Health coach, a shaman, a reiki master and an experienced sound healer with the gong.

Amanda has lived and worked all over the world, including Italy, where she lived with her family and raised her children for multiple years. She is now settled in North Carolina and is excited to shepherd this upcoming retreat in Umbria.

Travel Insurance

We cannot emphasize more the importance of travel insurance. As we all know, especially as travelers, “life happens.” Whether it’s family, work, mother nature, or a change of heart, it is important to be prepared in case you need to unexpectedly change your travel plans. Often for less than $150, you can purchase a travel insurance policy and be protected in the event that you need to make a change or need to be covered financially prior to or during your trip.

We have partnered with two insurance companies: Trawick International and CSA Travel Insurance (available for U.S. Residents only).
