The retreat will be held at a boutique hotel and yoga retreat oasis located five minutes outside of the village of Ubud, Bali in Indonesia. The center is dedicated to creating a place of happiness where groups or individuals can come to relax, adventure, deepen their practices, eat great food, play in the sun and get back to being themselves.
Enjoy a chic yet unpretentious mix of modern and traditional Balinese design, nestled between a serene river on one side and ancient rice terraces on the other. All of the staff on their amazing team come from nearby villages and will make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The open-air yoga studio is on the third floor of the main villa with breathtaking views of rice terraces, traditional temples, coconut trees, and the jungle canopy. After yoga, cool off with a dip in the pool or enjoy a massage, facial or full body treatment in our spa.
The fresh, organic food is a highlight for all of our guests. All the produce is organic and comes from the retreat center’s garden or the local market. A delicious blend of Balinese and Western cuisine is served in the open air, bamboo roof dining area, crafted amazing local chefs. Vegetarian, vegan, and non-vegetarian options are served alongside an amazing array of colorful juices, smoothies, beer, wine and tropical cocktails. Upgrade to Raw meals during the retreat for an additional charge. Juices and other specialty drinks are not included in the retreat package.
Born and raised in Nebraska (the Heartland), where yoga was slow to arrive, Elizabeth started doing yoga with videos! Wanting to deepen her understanding of yoga in order to help her massage clients with the benefits of yoga, she started out small with a weekend teaching course, moved on to a 200 hour hatha/vinyasa course and then decided she had a love of Kundalini so went to Bali to get her 200 hour KRI certification. She is now ERYT200 and YACEP and finishing up her RYT500.
Elizabeth’s class style is playful, non-judgemental, infused with humor, filled with modifications, optional challenges and a big heart full of love and understanding. Don’t be fooled by her love of gentle flows and yin/restorative tendencies as she is still able to kick it up with a sweat pouring power class or invigorating Kundalini Kriya! Her goal being a yoga teacher and a student is to embrace the benefits of yoga, live it to the best of her ability and share in the struggle with others, allowing each person to understand that yoga and life is a journey!
Elizabeth has a deep love of travel. Even though she grew up in the Midwest, her family traveled throughout the USA extensively. She later took her travels internationally as an exchange student to Sweden and later a year in Hungary. Since then she has traveled to more than 15 other countries, the most recent being India and Bali for yoga learning and teaching opportunities. This love of travel, meeting new people and experiencing yoga around the world is what has inspired her to offer this experience of a yoga retreat back in Bali.
Elizabeth views being a yoga student and a teacher as a beautiful never-ending journey. She is so excited to be able to offer this retreat for all students on their yoga journeys. Elizabeth owns and operates Avani Day Spa and Yoga Studio in Hastings, Nebraska.
Jessica received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2000 and completed her Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist in 2006.
To help balance the stress of teaching and raising a family she began her own personal yoga and mindfulness practice. She became a certified Mindful Schools Instructor in 2015.
Yoga & mindfulness have been a part of her life for 5 years. As an educator, mindfulness has benefited her students and helped them learn to pay attention on purpose. Her practice has helped her grow stronger and more flexible, both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires her to live each moment more mindfully.
She completed my 200-hour Vinyasa Flow training with Evolve to Harmony Yoga and Avani Yoga Studio. She will always be a student and is deeply grateful for the loving wisdom her teachers have shared with her. As an instructor she enjoys beginning with a slow, thoughtful sequence, building to a peak pose and adding some heat while helping her students reach their limits and beyond and sometimes add in an inspirational quote. Her goal is that students leave the studio feeling refreshed and balanced. Her desire is to help others live a healthier life; mind, body & soul.
