We invite you to take time away from your ordinary surroundings to revitalize yourself in Costa Rica at this Santa Teresa Boutique Hotel, Spa & Yoga Center. Have fun, be adventurous, appreciate the majesty of nature, go surfing or swim in it, paddle board into the sunset, experience culture and people on a new level; and participate in the local community. In addition to these oceanside retreat activities, join us for some real yoga to decompress, exhale and refresh your mind, body and spirit throughout the week.
Each day you will learn how and why yoga can make you feel better, empowered, relaxed; and we’re pretty sure, craving for more as we guide you through a variety of yoga classes from Yoga Basics to Power Yoga; Vinyasa Flow to Core Strengthening; Yin Yoga for stretching and relaxation, to Arm Balances and inversions for control and focus.
Whether you’re an experienced yoga practitioner or someone who’s never tried yoga before, there is something for everyone to discover on and off the mat in Santa Teresa! Every retreat is unique and, as such, the itineraries are ever-changing! We finalize the itineraries about 3-6 weeks before the retreat, but after 10 years of hosting retreats, we do have a general idea of what most schedules look like.
Most retreats include one-to-two daily yoga classes. One class takes place in the morning, either just before or just after breakfast. After the first class and meal, you have free time to explore, relax, or take part in optional add-on activities. Lunch (if included in your retreat) will take place midday, during this free time. There is then, usually, an afternoon class followed by dinner. Occasionally some teachers choose to offer an evening restorative class or group gathering after dinner as well.
In addition, there is usually one dedicated “excursion day” in which we do not have scheduled yoga classes. This is a day for people to take advantage of some of the more involved tour and excursion offerings and is always a lot of fun!

The retreat will be held at an intimate beachfront hotel and yoga center located in Santa Teresa, a breathtaking white sand beach on the Pacific Ocean of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula. Situated on four acres of unspoiled tropical beach, you will find beautiful swimming areas and also outcroppings of rock where natural tide pools form. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prepared daily and include healthy vegetarian options along with fish and/or chicken. The food is organic when available and prepared with nourishing ingredients.
Karen Cutrona Turner, E-RYT500
Karen enjoys teaching and practicing a variety of yoga traditions from basic Kripalu to Power Vinyasa flows. Her E-RYT500 credential represents professional yoga teacher trainings in both Eastern and Western traditions. Karen’s teaching style is a fusion of Kripalu Yoga from her RYT trainings with the acclaimed Deva Parnell, Power Yoga – Baptiste Style under MBody founder Mark White’s leadership; and her Power Yoga Teacher Training and multiple workshops with internationally renowned Bryan Kest. Karen specializes in creating unique core strengthening and yoga body sculpting sequences.
Karen founded Blue Moon Yoga and Fitness, Inc. in Ormond Beach, FL and owned and operated it from 2009-2013 where she enjoyed exploring the benefits of studio ownership and discovering the opportunities yoga can provide for involvement in the community and in improving individual lives.
This great experience led to Karen’s next endeavor as the sole proprietor of UbU Yoga & Fitness, LLC providing corporate and individual yoga instruction as well as RYT200 and Advanced 300-Hour certification programs at her home studio and Registered Yoga School (RYS). Karen is also a YACEP yoga workshop presenter.
Karen’s passion is to inspire others to discover more about their unique talents and extraordinary creation through yoga. Her RYT training programs invite participants to engage mind, body, and Spirit in a journey of self-discovery and personal challenge as they learn to become inspiring and powerful yoga teachers.
In addition to her endeavors with UbU Yoga & Fitness, Karen is married to Steve, Mom to three amazing adult children, Grammy to two beloved grandsons, and is the Executive Assistant to the President of a nationwide development and construction company. She has been a Fitness Expert for Chicago Home Fitness brands, a blogger on their website, and has achieved her E-RYT500 designation through Yoga Alliance with over 12,000 hours of yoga teaching and training.
Amanda Theobald, RYT500
Amanda fell in love with the practice of yoga as a student searching for a deeper understanding of herself. As she grew in her practice, she developed a love for yoga that she knew she needed to share with others.
Since finishing her RYT 500, Amanda has developed sequences ranging from Power Heated Flows to Yin Releases. She continues to grow in her knowledge base with many various courses, including; Power Yoga – Bryan Kest YTT, Altamonte Springs, FL and Kino MacGregor Ashtanga Workshops, Columbus, OH.
You will typically find Amanda teaching at Melt Hot Fitness throughout the week at their Dublin, OH and Westerville, OH locations. She loves the heat and enjoys bringing people together through her fast, fiery, one breath, one movement flow! Amanda has constructed a Release class focusing on power holds and Yin postures to achieve that ultimate Yoga high.
Being a student first has given Amanda insight into people’s struggles and limitations. She relishes the opportunity to help each person be better than they were when they walked into class. She loves the personal interaction and satisfaction of seeing her students achieve levels they never thought were possible. It is her personal mission that when you leave her class you feel like you are the best version of yourself.
When she isn’t teaching Yoga, Amanda is married to Tim, Mom to two beautiful children, daughter to two amazing parents, sister to three amazing sisters, and friend to anyone in need. She works as an Occupational Therapist, specializing in acute rehab and neurological dysfunction. She often shares her yoga experiences with her geriatric patients inspiring them to be the best version of themselves.
