The retreat will be held at an intimate beachfront hotel and yoga center located in Santa Teresa, a breathtaking white sand beach on the Pacific Ocean of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula. Situated on four acres of unspoiled tropical beach, you will find beautiful swimming areas and also outcroppings of rock where natural tide pools form. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prepared daily and include healthy vegetarian options along with fish and/or chicken. The food is organic when available and prepared with nourishing ingredients.
Every retreat is unique and, as such, the itineraries are ever-changing! We finalize the itineraries about 3-6 weeks before the retreat, but after 10 years of hosting retreats, we do have a general idea of what most schedules look like.
Most retreats include one-to-two daily yoga classes. One class takes place in the morning, either just before or just after breakfast. After the first class and meal, you have free time to explore, relax, or take part in optional add-on activities. Lunch (if included in your retreat) will take place midday, during this free time. There is then, usually, an afternoon class followed by dinner. Occasionally some teachers choose to offer an evening restorative class or group gathering after dinner as well.
In addition, there is usually one dedicated “excursion day” in which we do not have scheduled yoga classes. This is a day for people to take advantage of some of the more involved tour and excursion offerings and is always a lot of fun!
Again, this is a very general look at what your retreat schedule could be. We work closely with the teachers to design unique itineraries that reflect their style and the group that’s traveling with them. Once your specific retreat itinerary is complete, we will send it out via email, usually two or more weeks before the retreat starts. Please keep in mind all retreat itineraries are subject to change.
Katherine G. Yannucci
Founder/Owner of KASA Yoga and Wellness
Kathy, also known as KATICA, is an Ayurvedic Health & Lifestyle Coach, 500-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, and a Master Reiki Practitioner. She is a student member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) and a lifelong learner of holistic health modalities who loves to share what she has learned with her clients, friends, and family.
She began her yoga journey in the fall of 2000 at the Dharma Yoga Center in New York City after being diagnosed with hyperthyroid. While working full-time as a Fashion Designer, she started practicing yoga twice a week in order to counteract the symptoms of her thyroid condition.
In January 2004, Kathy’s love for yoga led her to enroll in a teacher-training course in Miami, Florida. Kathy taught at local studios and spas in Miami, while also implementing “Yoga for Lunch” into the corporate world. In addition, she taught private clients at their homes and businesses.
In November 2005, Kathy moved to Columbus, Ohio. The first thing she did upon arriving was to take a tour of the city to find all the local yoga studios. She has taught at McConnell Heart Health Center, local studios, country clubs, and her home studio in Worthington.
Kathy has trained with Sarah Powers, Gary Kraftsow, Rodney Yee, Paul Grilley, Cyndi Lee, and many others. Her fluid yoga style is sometimes referred to as a “dance”, as she links one pose to the next with each breath. Kathy’s continuing studies and personal health experiences with Yoga, Reiki, Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, have led her to teach in a way that blends all these practices.
In October 2015, Kathy decided to train in Ayurvedic medicine with the California College of Ayurveda. Her intention is to complete the entire program at CCA to become an Ayurvedic Doctor so that she may better serve her community.
In July 2016, Kathy opened an intimate and nurturing yoga and wellness center in her local community of Worthington, OH. She named it KASA Yoga and Wellness. Her mission is to design a lifestyle that inspires change through the ancient practices of Yoga, Ayurveda, Reiki, and Meditation. On this journey, she inspires her students and clients to live in the spirit of awareness, balance and transformation for optimum health and fulfillment.
Kathy’s favorite quote by Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

I’m so thankful that I’ve had the pleasure of having her as my guide on this journey towards finding balance in my life.”
“Kathy has challenged my body, opened my heart and has inspired my spirit. Her style of teaching is calm, clear, and precise and she has an excellent sense of what her students can and cannot do. She will work on your level – leaving room for growth and progress. Kathy has an aura about her that just has to be experienced. I leave her class every week feeling strong, calm and grounded.”
“Kathy has been not just my teacher, but also a trusted yoga advisor as my practice has evolved in my ten years of practice. Her teachings are a constant in my personal yoga journey. She takes time to get know her students before every class and develops a sense of trust and comfort in the room. She is dedicated to her own continued studies of yoga and Ayurveda, which she weaves into dharma talks and well-crafted sequences. Kathy is welcoming to beginners and advanced practitioners.”

“I’ve known Katherine for many years and words can’t express how lucky I feel to have met her. She is such a kind, considerate and conscientious person. She is very serious and dedicated to excellence in her craft. We met at the wellness center I managed years ago, and I hired her for private yoga classes after that.
