In our busy lives, we can forget the sensation of allowing ourselves to breathe, move, and connect to our surroundings and our true selves. Whether moving mindfully through asanas on your yoga mat, walking consciously and feeling the earth below your feet, or reflecting and discussing health and wellness, this journey will offer you an opportunity to remember your own true nature. This is a getaway that will surely be etched into your memories as a time of living more vibrant and awake.
The retreat includes one-to-two daily yoga classes, 3 delicious and nurturing meals, guided meditation, and sacred reflective circles welcoming ritual and conversations.One class takes place in the morning, either just before or just after breakfast. After the first class and meal, you have free time to explore, relax, or take part in optional add-on activities. Lunch will take place midday, during this free time. There will also be a yoga class offered in the afternoon/early evening that will be more restorative in nature and form, helping us ground down and settle into nourishment of dinner and deep rest.
In addition, there is usually one dedicated “excursion day” in which we do not have scheduled yoga classes. This is a day for people to take advantage of some of the more involved tour and excursion offerings and is always a lot of fun!
This is a very general look at what your retreat schedule could be. We work closely with the teachers to design unique itineraries that reflect their style and the group that’s traveling with them. Once your specific retreat itinerary is complete, we will send it out via email, usually two or more weeks before the retreat starts. Please keep in mind all retreat itineraries are subject to change.

Nestled at the base of some of Iceland’s dramatic mountains, the Mountain Lodge Yoga Retreat is the perfect way to experience the beauty and peace of Iceland. What was once an ancient sheep farm and home to Viking settlements is now a cozy mountain lodge with beautiful cottages and a nature filled atmosphere. Relax and rejuvenate with the outdoor hot tub, indoor sauna, spa house, and barn-turned yoga room! During the summer months, enjoy endless sunlight and opportunities to explore the local wildlife on the Troll Peninsula. During the colder months, gaze in awe at the northern lights and snow-capped mountains. While staying at this retreat center, you can look forward to delicious, healthy meals, opportunities to hike, ride horses, and explore the local wilderness, and simply relax and enjoy!!
She is wide-eyed and open to living life to its fullest. She guides and helps others to embrace the magic of this life. You can find her plunging into the cold Atlantic (year round), leading weekly yoga classes, workshops, trainings at Lila East End Yoga, chasing her two wild and active boys down to the beach, howling with the monkeys on Retreat in Costa Rica, stirring soup in her kitchen, and/or circling with close friends and family. She sees this one amazing life as one to be lived in good form, health, and love. She has been experimenting with both on and off the mat for decades to embrace healthier ways of relating. Yoga and Ayurveda have been guiding posts on her discovery of living a more balanced way of being. She has been teaching Hatha yoga for a couple of decades. Expect to move with thoughtful engagement and to challenge yourself to be present with your breathe, movement, and stillness throughout class.
Liz is a board certified family doctor focused on integrative medicine as well as licensed in Medical Acupuncture. She considers true medicine to be anything that enlivens and enhances our sensory experience of life. She believes life comes from connecting to a greater purpose, to the people around us, and to this beautiful earth. First we must start by connecting to our bodies and our truth. Her mission is to best support you on this journey using all the tools she has collected from training in conventional family medicine, integrative medicine, manual medicine, plants and herbs, and from various wisdom traditions including Ayurveda and Chinese medicine. Most importantly she is here to listen to you and help you connect to that deeper integrity within.

Take advantage of your time in Iceland to explore the endless beauty, or give yourself a break and enjoy the more relaxing offerings, such as the volcanic hot springs, that make Iceland an ideal destination for a retreat. - Go for a midnight sun hike and witness the stunning late-night sunset
- Tour the local volcanoes, glaciers, and waterfalls
- Go on an Icelandic pony ride
