Unforgettable yoga experience with Laura Jane Mellencamp
Using the practice of meditation, Laura Jane has designed this week to support you in exploring the tools of stilling the mind and embracing your authentic self. The yoga classes will blend the disciplines of various styles of Hatha yoga with the mindfulness of meditation. They will cover the fundamental principles underlying the therapeutic application of yoga and how to incorporate these principles into your practice. Work to dissolve old blockages, unravel samskaras, and create new pathways to vibrant health and happiness. The end result will be one of the most incredible, unforgettable yoga experiences you will ever have.
This week is a perfect balance between rest and play. Laura has discovered through leading and attending many retreats that traveling together and saying yes to life and its opportunities in the moment create lasting friendships and a gratitude for life’s abundance that will last forever.
This yoga retreat is for all ages and all life experiences. It is perfect for all levels of practitioners, yoga teachers, and bodywork therapists. Private yoga sessions will also be available.
Every retreat is unique and, as such, the itineraries are ever-changing! We finalize the itineraries about 3-6 weeks before the retreat, but after 10 years of hosting retreats, we do have a general idea of what most schedules look like.
Most retreats include one-to-two daily yoga classes. One class takes place in the morning, either just before or just after breakfast. After the first class and meal, you have free time to explore, relax, or take part in optional add-on activities. Lunch (if included in your retreat) will take place midday, during this free time. There is then, usually, an afternoon class followed by dinner. Occasionally some teachers choose to offer an evening restorative class or group gathering after dinner as well.
In addition, there is usually one dedicated “excursion day” in which we do not have scheduled yoga classes. This is a day for people to take advantage of some of the more involved tour and excursion offerings and is always a lot of fun!
Again, this is a very general look at what your retreat schedule could be. We work closely with the teachers to design unique itineraries that reflect their style and the group that’s traveling with them. Once your specific retreat itinerary is complete, we will send it out via email, usually two or more weeks before the retreat starts. Please keep in mind all retreat itineraries are subject to change.

The yoga studio is beautifully designed to support your practice overlooking the ocean, farmland and wide open skies. You can watch the wild waters of the Atlantic Ocean from the comfort of the under-floor heated space through a massive wall of glass that takes in the most stunning view. Fully stocked with yoga props and everything you will need for your retreat experience.
The rooms are all tastefully decorated with comfortable mattresses and linen. All the rooms have views, whether of the sea or countryside. The gourmet vegetarian meals are homemade and will delight your palate: beautifully curated, abundant and mouth watering.

Laura Jane Mellencamp
Laura Jane Mellencamp, C-IYAT, E-RYT 500, MA is the founder and director of Yoga Among Friends, one of the Midwest’s premier yoga studios. Certified in 1989, Laura Jane has made the practice and teaching of yoga her life’s work. In 2016, Laura Jane accredited as a certified yoga therapist with the Internation Association of Yoga Therapists after a 5 year training program. As a clinical psychologist, she enjoys blending her MA in Clinical and Counseling Psychology with her yoga therapy to provide clients with a holistic approach to psychological and emotional imbalances that affect the immune system. Her work has led Laura Jane to participate as a premier provider with Chicago’s Intergrated Health Network.
