Whether you are a seasoned yogi, brand new to the practice, or somewhere in-between, there is something for everyone on this retreat. Nestled in the hills of Umbria, the restored farmhouse offers a charming escape from the hustle and bustle. Twice daily yoga practices will be formatted so that practitioners of all levels feel challenged yet renewed in their body and mind. With each posture or tidbit of philosophy introduced, the focus will remain on ensuring that everything taught throughout the week can be used as you continue your life after the retreat.

The location allows for the ultimate week of rest and relaxation if thatʻs what youʻre looking for.  The natural pool with a jacuzzi will be a great place to unwind.  However, if you are looking to see and do as much as possible, opportunities abound for extra activities available to partake in. The capital city of Rome is a 2-hour drive away, the coastline an hour drive, click on the ʻThings to Doʻ tab for additional info on excursion options.

This retreat truly is meant for anyone who is looking to slow down and enjoy a weekʻs worth of yoga, dining, and a little adventure.

Classes led will be primarily Vinyasa-style classes.  Vinyasa is a flowing style of yoga where there is an emphasis on linking breath and movement. Classes build up to a peak pose, or instead, focus on a theme.  Themes could be heart-openers, hip-openers, forward folds, standing poses, the list goes on and on.  Classes led during the retreat will also have a brief mix of Restorative yoga poses towards the end of class.  Restorative yoga is a very gentle practice that uses props such as blocks, blankets, bolsters, and straps to hold shapes for an extended amount of time, usually 3-5 minutes.  This practice can be very beneficial for the body and mind.  Links to sample Vinyasa and Restorative classes can be found here:

Jordan Loudon

Originally from Ohio, Jordan had been introduced to yoga and meditation as a form of cross-training during swim season.  As an athlete for most of her childhood, health and wellness were seeds that were planted early in her consciousness.  Having to find a cheaper (aka free) way to practice yoga during college, Jordan turned to the internet.  With the ease of being able to practice in her space, at any time, yoga crept its way into her daily routine.  Once you become privy to live with yoga, not much makes you want to go back to life without yoga.

A fresh graduate in 2015 from Ohio University, Jordan took a leap of faith where she was ultimately brought to Hawai’i.  In 2016 she completed her 200hr-RYT with Hot Yoga 8.  Work required a move away from the busy and studio-saturated town of Honolulu, to the west side of the island where yoga studios are much more scarce.  Teaching classes at farms of all places eventually bloomed into the opportunity to run her own studio space, the studio space became West Oʻahu Yoga.  The studio closed itʻs doors in early 2020, perhaps a blessing in disguise for what was to come.

Jordan’s teachers and influences list is a mix of yoga teachers, meditation teachers, and various authors.  My 200hr-RYT training was led by Natalie Cruz.  She was influenced by teachers; Lesley Fightmaster (Fightmaster Yoga), Donna Farhi, Cindi Lee, Noah Maze, Mimi Rieger, Tara Brach, and Jack Kornfield.  Authors that continue to inspire her practice include; Thich Nhat Hahn, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Beth Spindler, Rolf Gates, Debora Adele, and Brene Brown.

A typical class with Jordan involves gentle movement to awaken the body, gradually building heat in the body, followed by smart sequencing to get the most out of your movements, then winding down with gentle stretches and a sweet savasana.  Her goal as a teacher is for at least one person to walk away from class feeling empowered to do the right thing and to water the desire to make it a habit.  As a student of life and yoga, her goal is to never stop learning.

There are so many beautiful and wonderful adventures you can take advantage of during your stay. While on your retreat you will also have the opportunity to take part in adventure activities and wonderful excursions. Some of the possible options include:

  • Italian cooking course
  • Wine tasting on an Italian vineyard
  • Olive oil tasting at a local olive grove
  • Day tours of local villages and historic sites
  • And more!
