Accommodations
The retreat center’s name translates as “love from the ancient forest.” It is nestled in an oasis of native plants and fruit trees, nourished by a magnificent waterfall in the Sacred Valley of Peru. This lovely spot is in the Andes Mountains and home of the twelve mountains known as Apus—“luminous beings.” Those who come to the center have the opportunity to commune directly with these mountains, as well as with the local curanderos and pacos (healers), who engage with us for ritual and Despacho ceremony.
The guests at this center enjoy delicious meals with locally-grown and lovingly-prepared ingredients. Each guestroom is a reflection of the Peruvian culture of the Sacred Valley. The entire center embodies kindness, love, and wholeness that seem to permeate the magical place.
Kimberly Dahlmann
Kimberly Dahlmann has been a student of yoga and meditation since 1994, and a teacher for more than 22 years. She is the founder and director of Yoga East and a 500-hour E-RYT certified instructor by the Yoga Alliance.
A dedicated practitioner of Ashtanga yoga, Kimberly began practicing under to guidance of Nancy Gilgoff and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 1999, traveling to Maui for extended periods to study with Nancy and to India to study with “Guruji” Pattabhi Jois.
Although Kimberly’s yoga roots run deep in the traditional practice and methods of Ashtanga, in recent years Kimberly has continued personal study and practice in the Iyengar tradition of yoga with her teacher Kofi Busia, where she has discovered a deeper understanding of the healing, therapeutic potential of yoga.
As a teacher of yoga, Kimberly forms a careful synthesis, bridging reverence for traditional vinyasa practice and the lineage from which it originates, while also teaching the importance of postural, structural alignment, and the innately therapeutic nature of asana practice. Kimberly integrates pranayama (breath practices), meditation, and therapeutic approaches with traditional Ashtanga practice.
As the founder and director of Yoga East, Kimberly provides a gentle and compassionate healing space in which individuals may grow, and the yoga community may thrive. It is her deepest commitment to preserve and transmit the traditions of yoga that have been shared with her.
TESTIMONIALS
“Gifted, wise, caring, and compassionate are some of Kimberly Dahlmann’s special qualities. She skillfully guides me on the journey of learning and adopting a daily yoga practice, both on and off my mat, that I envision continuing for the rest of my life. Her intuitive, insightful knowledge of each student is amazing, as she guides each of us in the direction, both physically and spiritually, that best suits us. People ask why I travel to Kittery almost every weekday to practice at Yoga East, the reason is Kimberly and the Yoga East community she fosters.” – Sherri N.
“Kimberly’s immense experience and mastery of her craft are immediately evident in the ease with which she communicates insight with compassion, humility, and integrity. Her teaching never fails to challenge my body, open my heart and inspire my spirit. Her deeply penetrating exacting alignment cues, hands-on adjustments, thoughtfully themed classes, attentive presence, and most of all, her way of living what she teaches have helped me to refine my practice and teaching tremendously. Kimberly always succeeds in orienting her students to the magic of the practice. She is a true teacher.”– Bethany M.
