Wellness & Wonder Retreat
Sacred Valley, Peru Retreat with Lakia Meaden
Our week begins with a Despacho Ceremony, an ancient shamanic gathering to heal, restore balance, and ask specific requests from the spirit world. Each day of the retreat we will move into our body, mind, and spirit. Daily Yoga practices, Meditations, and intention setting. Let us guide you through an arch of healing and restoration. We are excited to dance amongst the crystals, breathe in the fresh scent of rolling hills and expand our minds to experience the teachings of the ancient Incas. The Sacred Valley is a lush green valley tucked into the Andes mountains, originally known by the Incas for its fertile agricultural land and powerful spiritual energy. Today, the valley’s rich history and culture provide many opportunities for exploration, adventure, and reconnecting to the beauty of Mother Earth.
Come find yourself and your tribe in the lost city of our Mother Earth! On this adventure of a lifetime to the Sacred Valley in Peru!
During this 7-day retreat, we’ll deepen our yoga practice at a beautiful retreat center nestled in the mountains. Here, we’ll connect to the richness of Peruvian culture! We’ll explore our surroundings by hiking to nearby waterfalls, exploring local markets and villages, and taking part in cultural ceremonies.
We’ll begin each day with an energizing yoga practice suitable for all levels of practitioners, followed by plenty of time to explore or relax. Three meals of nourishing local cuisine will be offered at the retreat center each day. Additionally, join in on an optional guided excursion into the surrounding mountains and villages throughout the Sacred Valley. We offer yoga practices during some evenings, along with time to recap your day’s adventures. All excursions, ceremonies, and yoga practices will be optional…giving you the agency to choose your own adventure! You also have the option to add on a 2-night trip to Machu Picchu at the end of the retreat.

The retreat center’s name translates as “love from the ancient forest.” It is nestled in an oasis of native plants and fruit trees, nourished by a magnificent waterfall in the Sacred Valley of Peru. This lovely spot is in the Andes Mountains and home of the twelve mountains known as Apus—“luminous beings.” Those who come to the center have the opportunity to commune directly with these mountains, as well as with the local curanderos and pacos (healers), who engage with us for ritual and Despacho ceremony.
The guests at this center enjoy delicious vegetarian and vegan meals with locally-grown and lovingly-prepared ingredients. You may also purchase chicken and fish for $5 – $6 perportion. Each guestroom is a reflection of the Peruvian culture of the Sacred Valley. The entire center embodies kindness, love, and wholeness that seem to permeate the magical place.
Lakia has a deep passion for travel, nature and Yoga. Her journey into healthy living started in her early 20’s when she had a special needs son who required extensive care. She found that western medicine didn’t always hold the key to healing. She began a hunt for other healing modalities to help her son and found the ancient healing practice of Reiki, acupuncture and herbalism. She became a Reiki practitioner in 1999. The journey to healing had begun!
Her first introduction to Yoga happened in High school gym class. She found it fascinating and in her twenties joined her first yoga class in Chula Vista, California. Like many she practiced yoga by attending random yoga classes here and there. Until eventually she knew she wanted to take her Yoga teacher training!
She moved to Norfolk Virginia in 2020 and found the place she wanted to open her first studio space! Lakia is now sharing her love for yoga daily at her bay front studio in Norfolk, Virginia. Her studio space welcomes all levels of yoga students and hosts many types of classes.
Her teaching style is challenging, yet accessible. By pairing breath with movement, she guide students through creative, flow-based sequences while offering insightful alignment cues and modifications. Along with teaching many styles of yoga she also hosts workshops, private session and curated living coaching program.
She prides herself in creating a safe space for all to enjoy, learn and practice. Her passion for yoga and the amazing community of loving yogis around her has created a scholarship program that launched this year. Creating opportunity for those in need brings her peace.
