Wintering: Honor the Hibernation through Rest and Reflection
A Women’s Retreat
Experience ultimate coziness at this intimate boutique resort on the Algarve coast of Portugal. Come in preparation for wintering, hibernating, and embracing the season of darkness.
Winter is a time to conserve energy, ground into solitude, nurture creativity through rest, and reflect on our own shadow selves. Through careful preparation, this season of less light and warmth can still be stimulating and joyful.
Join Jennifer Brewer for gentle grounding asana and movement. Yoga Nidra will be part of our daily practice as we plant the seeds of our deepest desire into our subconsciousness. Learn self-massage techniques with warm oils, sleep etiquette, and explore cultivating creativity.
Connect through study and discussion on the kleshas, or the obstacles on our path that cause pain and suffering. Explore breath techniques to boost energy and maintain the purity of your voice.
On the property, enjoy meandering through the gardens, soaking in the hot tub, reading on your veranda, or sharing an afternoon tea and cookie. Venture off-site to a nearby beach or stroll the cobblestone streets of Lagos.
Each day will consist of 2 gentle grounding asana practices. Expect slow flow, hatha, yin & restorative combined to create a journey where the stability and support of the ground is a main character.
A book to guide our study and discussion on the kleshas will be provided. While it can be challenging to admit our own ignorance or confront ourselves as the cause of our suffering, these ancient principles CAN simplify how we can claim ownership and empowerment of our happiness. Yoga Nidra, or yoga sleep, is a guided form of meditation and a powerful tool for manifesting. Move from a narrow, short-term intention to a broad, big picture sankalpa – your heart’s desire. Work with your subconscious mind and the liminal space between wake and sleep.

Jennifer Brewer
Jennifer is an E-RYT 500 based out of Hilton Head, SC. She received her 200-hr from Asheville Community Yoga and 500-hr from Subtle Yoga with a focus on yoga therapeutics. Jennifer teaches full-time to both group classes and private clients. She leads the yoga program for all Spinnaker Resorts on Hilton Head Island. Her class offerings vary from accessible chair yoga to powerful vinyasa – and everything in between. While she loves the creativity of movement, she strongly believes that asana is only one part of the system of yoga – and it takes the whole system to find connection, build awareness, and master this human existence.
Known for her sense of humor and ability to make yoga attainable & practical. She often brings inspiration from seasonal energy. Jennifer started her yoga journey to cope with her own depression and anger. This will be her tenth retreat with True Nature Travels.
When not doing yoga, you will find her nose in a book, trying a new recipe, or her feet in the sand with her handsome flat-coat retriever, Roux.

The Algarve is the southernmost region of Portugal, famous for being blessed with nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine each year. With cool Atlantic waters and an eastern mountain border blocking out hot, dry winds from the north, growing conditions for fresh, flavorful fruits, vegetables, and herbs are excellent. Lagos is known for its wide and endless beaches, Mediterranean climate, safety, and fresh seafood cuisine.

Travel Insurance
We cannot emphasize more the importance of travel insurance. As we all know, especially as travelers, “life happens.” Whether it’s family, work, mother nature, or a change of heart, it is important to be prepared in case you need to unexpectedly change your travel plans. Often, for less than $150, you can purchase a travel insurance policy and be protected in the event that you need to make a change or need to be covered financially prior to or during your trip.
We have partnered with Trawick International (available for U.S. Residents only). Read more about their policies here. We encourage you to research the insurance company and policy that best meets your needs.
