Discover Yourself in Dominica
Nurture & Explore
Discover Yourself in Dominica is 6 days to nurture yourself and explore what’s inside of you, what’s ready to be released, what you’re ready to step into. Plus, get ready to explore Dominica, the Nature Island of the Caribbean.
Mornings begin with vinyasa practices to tap into your strength, power and vitality. You’ll start the day energized, refreshed and ready to explore.
Evening practices will be more calming in nature, giving you time to reflect, nourish and restore.
All practices will include a mix of asana (poses), pranayama (breathwork) and mindfulness. Extended meditation practices and journaling prompts will support you throughout the week to deepen your self-study.
Your days will be filled with hiking to the clearest waterfalls, snorkeling in a world-famous reef and touring the culinary garden at the resort. But don’t worry, we won’t have you overscheduled! There’s plenty of time for you to laze by the infinity pool, gazing over the Caribbean Sea with a beach cocktail in hand or take a siesta.
We’re intentionally creating an intimate experience for you, so you’re guaranteed personalized attention. With two skilled teachers, each with over 15 years’ experience, you’ll be able to drop into your practice quickly, so you make the most of your week. Jenn and Alissa skillfully teach to all levels, so beginners and experienced yogis feel comfortable and appropriately challenged. You’ll learn so much about the practice of yoga, but more importantly, about yourself.

Alissa & Jenn are Senior Teachers at Yoga Home, an award-winning studio in suburban Philadelphia. Their blended expertise in sequencing, physiology and philosophy with a joyful approach ensures practices that will inspire, empower and transform.
Alissa
Alissa first discovered yoga in 2010 while pursuing an acting career in Los Angeles; However, it soon became clear that acting was not her true life passion. She completed her training in 2012 and started teaching right away. She prioritizes continuing education through home practice, self-study, and training with senior teachers whenever possible. As a teacher, she challenges her students by encouraging discipline as well as patience with themselves. Her greatest hope is that they learn something every time they walk into her class.

She is noted for her precise verbal cueing, thoughtful sequencing, and joyful presence in the classroom. She is a skilled facilitator and excited to be leading another destination retreat. Last year’s participants praised Alissa for helping them grow so much in their practice in such a short time.
Jenn
Jenn’s yoga journey began in 2007, as a way to complement her running, but her love and depth of the practice has grown dramatically. An E-RTY 500, with multiple certifications, she’s trained extensively in various modalities of yoga, mindfulness, body mechanics and energy healing, all of which she weaves seamlessly into her teaching. A skilled and gifted teacher and born nurturer with over 15 years’ experience, she embodies positive energy and empowers students to tap into their best selves.
As a marathoner and triathlete, Jenn understands the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the body. She brings an abundance of grace and compassion to every student, whether they’re brand-new beginners or seasoned yogis. Her hands-on adjustments are divine; her facilitation skills allow retreat participants to drop in deeply into their experience. Past retreat participants praise Jenn’s teaching for supporting them in having a meaningful “reset”, perhaps the biggest gift a teacher can give.
Testimonials

“I came to Jenn’s class at Yoga Home after feeling like the soul of yoga was missing from other studios I went to. Not the case here! She does an excellent job fostering a sense of community where you feel more at ease getting to know other students. I leave feeling physically, mentally and spiritually refreshed!” – Yoga Home student
“Alissa’s classes are always wonderful. She is an expert at body dynamics and sequencing. I always feel better aligned and stronger after her classes.
